Mattol Grynaim was born in the Capitol city of Arafel, Shol Arbela. His martial training began at his eleventh summer, and his sixteenth saw him enlisted in the army.

Mattol Grynaim traveled to Amador on his twenty fifth summer to join the Children of the Light, seeing their cause as noble and the epitome of honorable conduct.

Child Grynaim rapidly ascended to the rank of Squadman after displaying aptitude for tactics, training, and leadership skills while serving in Andor's city of Whitebridge.

Child Grynaim places emphasis on winning the hearts and minds of the people, seeing them as noble sheep to be guided by holy shepherds, and protected by the radiant hounds of the Light. Therefore, he encourages entertainers, artists, and Gleemen to perform tales of heroism, particularly those involving the Children of the Light.

Mattol displays high levels of discipline and honor at all times, and when failing to adhere to the high standards of professionalism submits himself for lashings or other forms of reprimand; additionally, he holds his squad highly accountable for their actions, administering punishment such as his rank allows.
