On the international stage, politics is as important as gold and grain. Nations live and die as much by the word as by the sword, and the Westlands have seen no small use of either in the years leading up to now.
For a time, things grew quiet as various plots and schemes of the rich and powerful were put into effect and left to run. In short order, these schemes will be coming to a head and the consequences will be great and far reaching.
In Andor, the Black Tower is pushing the limits imposed upon it by the Crown and coming into conflict with the Aes Sedai. Their disregard for White Tower authority has grown and they openly challenge the monopoly held over the One Power by their more experienced counterparts. They are no longer content to abide by rules that they have not written.
In Tar Valon, the White Tower is in a state of flux as friction between the Ajahs seems to be on the rise once again after the Blue Keeper - the focal point of the uneasy peace between the Sisters - has gone missing. Elaida has capitalised on the division with the appointment of a new Keeper from her own Ajah indicating that she believes herself to be in a position of strength, and policy is shifting towards a more direct approach to intervention in the Westlands.
Word from the Children of the Light in Amadicia is non-existant. All that is known is that they are recruiting, and spies within her borders are becoming as rare as diamonds due to the inquisition becoming more active than it has been in over a hundred years.
To the North, the Blight border is silent. Whether this is truly due to a lull in activity or the eye of a greater storm is unclear. Word is sent out of a pending meeting of the council of Blademasters.
